Stakeholder management isn’t straightforward and requires specific tools and techniques to be effective. Throughout my career, I’ve adopted and adapted various strategies that have allowed me to connect more deeply with stakeholders and ensure the success of my projects:

  • Stakeholder mapping

One of the first things I do at the start of a project is identify and categorise stakeholders. I use mapping to determine who are the most influential, who have a direct interest in the project, and who might be affected indirectly. This tool helps me prioritise my communication efforts and ensure everyone involved is adequately informed.

  • Interest and concern analysis

Not everyone shares the same interests or concerns. I take time to understand what truly matters to each group or individual. This allows me to tailor my approach and ensure I’m addressing relevant issues.

  • Customised communication plan

Based on previous mapping and analysis, I create a customised plan. This plan details how, when, and through which mediums I’ll communicate with each stakeholder. Having a structured plan ensures communication is consistent, timely, and effective.

  • Continuous feedback and adjustments

Stakeholder management is a dynamic process. I’m continually seeking feedback to understand how stakeholders feel about the project and if there are areas for improvement. This feedback allows me to make real-time adjustments and ensure the project progresses smoothly.
